Cervical incompetence?

Hey everyone! We had our anatomy scan yesterday and everything went perfect for the most part! Baby girl is in the 90th percentile 😮‍💨 (her daddy’s is a big guy so we expect a big baby), fluid is all normal BUT the tech randomly decided she wanted to do an internal ultrasound. I was a little thrown off because 21 weeks seems a tad late to be doing internal ultrasound. Well we later found out she wanted to do an internal because my cervix is funneling. They’re talking about doing a cervical cerclage and I guess I’m just curious to hear other mom’s experiences with this procedure. Pain? Healing? How was day to day after getting the stitch? Thank you in advanced🩷 Pic of baby girl so we don’t get lost!

It isn't the most comfortable procedure, but it is the best way to prevent preterm labor and delivery if your cervix is funneling already

@Kayla is it done without anesthesia? Like they just go in and sew it shut?

Depends on the dr, I think most use a topical and a local anesthetic. It isn't anything you need to be put under for.

I’ve had an emergency one at 20 weeks and now I’m having my second baby I got it done at 15 weeks as a precaution. It doesn’t hurt, they give you a spinal tap basically like an epidural to numb you from the waist down and then put the stitch in. I have never had pain afterward. You do just want to be careful after getting it placed. Do nothing strenuous or lift heavy.
