clipping toenails

its a major struggle to clip my daughter’s toenails 😮‍💨 she’s 7 months old tomorrow and her toenails get so long before i can clip them cause its such a struggle. her feet are so ticklish so i cant do them when shes awake or she just wiggles like crazy, and when i try to when she’s asleep she just kicks and cries cause its so ticklish it wakes her up and pisses her off 😅 has anyone dealt with this? any advice? (posting here cause its the only group i actually get responses in)

I use an electric nail file sit her on my lap whilst I use it seems easier to hold her still

I used to sit my daughter in my lap and have a goal of two nails at a time. I would put her facing the TV and have her focused on a show, we used Hey Bear. After a bath and a foot massage helped as well. I bought nail clippers with a light and magnifying glass so I could see easier as well.

Try getting old socks and cut the toes out to avoid the very sensitive part of her lil feet

I hold my sons feet from the side when he’s sleeping or hold one toe at a time without moving, like a firm but not too tight grip

I waited till they slept and it took like an hour to clip their nails cause they would move around lol, everyone always told me to get a file Once they got older it got easier, now she's 2 and we take turns, I cut her nail and then she either pretends to cut her nail or I pretend to cut my nail and then it's turn to cut hers again My son is 1 now so we distract him with the TV but if that doesn't work I ask their grandma to do it cause she has some magical touch idk lol

I use an electric nail file that I got off amazon that has different file attachments based on age. Works like a charm every single time.

I wait until little dude is exhausted at the end of the day, usually after bath. If he isn’t tired, he isn’t going to cooperate lol

It may sound wild but to get her to keep still I will distract her with Peppa Pig and I use scissors as I find them easier then nail clippers because her hands and toes are soo small 🥺

I file my boys whilst he sleeps

Putting baby in a carrier helps us, either that or Dad does it while she’s feeding.

@Elsie like i said in the post, they’re so ticklish that even in deep sleep she wakes up

Yeah my boy has super ticklish feet and refuses to get them cut. I have to do them at night and he can’t be in a light sleep, has to be fully OUT OF IT. I hold the foot firmly, not softly. Which is the opposite of what you think but the softer it is, the more it tickles. I normally find I can get one foot done before he kicks around too much, so I do them in two goes! 🥲
