Tulip team - Mawbey midwives

Has anyone who is giving birth in St Thomas had problems with their midwife team and asked to change? I’m not having a great time with my midwives. They have some policies that they apparently stick to but they’re very inconsistent with them and they don’t seem to be erring towards the kind thing when it comes to me, so I’m losing trust in our relationship. They aren’t responding to an email about an appointment so I think I’m about to miss it but the baby has been feeling really strange so I’d love to see a midwife and have a check. I can’t really imagine going back there after a weird series of unkind behaviour. Does anyone have any experience of this or any advice? Anyone know how I would go about changing my midwife while still being attached to St Thomas for the birth?

Yessssss I was with this team I think they’re super under staffed

DM x

Yes, I was with a team at st Thomas and changed it because they were easier to get to, so if you’re not getting in with a team, I’m sure you can change it.

Not with this team but I found mine to be quite unhelpful unfortunately - still at St Thomas. DM me as there might be a way

I had my little at St Thomas’ in November and was assigned a team initially that was unfortunately a bit tricky for me to get to on the bus (I think it was the chestnut team) but the midwife there was soo lovely! I was then moved to the tulip team and honestly the whole place can feel like a shambles and I didnt rate one of the main ladies I saw at all. But basically yes you can request to move and they’ll see where there is space. I did regret my decision and wished I’d stuck with the journey now, but hopefully you’ll be moved somewhere you have more confidence in!

Also to add - my original midwife actually changed the team for me but it was easier to ask her as I was moving due to distance. I think there’s a contact number on St Thomas’s antenatal self refer page. If you feel the need, you could/should email PALs. If you have any concerns whatsoever about baby/how you feel etc, contact the EPAU straight away as the community midwives are not there for that. Wishing you luck!
