Moving baby to own room?

My boy is 4.5 months old and nearly outgrown his next to me, which I think is affecting his sleep (he wakes multiple times in the night). My partner thinks we should move him to the big cot in the nursery but I’m nervous as I always anticipated he would move at 6 months old. He can’t roll either way yet, and I find that sometimes during tummy time he collapses down so his face is smushed into the floor, and the thought of him doing this in his own room where I can’t hear him absolutely terrifies me. I’m genuinely considering sleeping on an airbed in the nursery with him until he can start rolling. Has anyone moved their baby prior to 6 months / rolling?

I know people that have moved their baby prior to six months but I’m not sure of their baby’s development when they did this… do you have space to move the cot into your room in the interim, or could you get a camera? I think you have to decide what’s right for you, if he’s in a bigger bed will he sleep better and therefore you would sleep better… and if you wouldn’t sleep better for worrying then maybe an air bed would help both of you sleep better… I think it’s good to remember these are all just stages, so even if you end up on an air bed, it likely would only be short term.

I'd definitely get a monitor if you are moving him. I sleep in the nursery with my baby but thinking of switching his next-to-me to crib soon so he can get used to it for a few weeks before I move back to my room at 6 months.

I moved mine at 14 weeks and I have zero regrets! He sleeps 10 hours at night (8pm-6am) with no wakes (... for now at least!)

Hey, my LG was like this, we moved her cot into our room.. do you have the room to do that? We thought it would be a better transition when she does move into her own room as she’s then already use to her cot xx

My little boy grew out of his next2me at around 3.5 months so ive bought a travel cot for my bedroom that has a bassinet attachment so im not bending too far x

@Millie we did the same with my first. Moved her into a travel cot and kept her next to me until 9 months ☺️
