Day nap help / advice

Hello, we were having ok day naps and not great bedtimes (screaming / wake ups etc). We started the Ferber sleep training for nighttime around 3 weeks ago and the transformation has been amazing from day 2 (with some hiccup nights but overall now sleeping through in big chunks) However day naps have become awful! I think he’s been so used to sleeping on the go form various classes and also co sleeping some morning naps (because I wasn’t getting night sleep due to his wake ups, I would then take morning nap with him) He’s now screaming awfully when we try to put him in his cot for a day nap. Any advice or tips for things working for others? It’s not feasible to contact nap him or go for a walk etc all the time. I really need him to be able to do some cot naps. When he has gone down in the cot, sometimes he will wake after 20 mins so upset and refuse to go back to sleep Tips welcome!!

What are his wake windows like? X

@Sophie around three hours. Currently battling him trying to fall asleep for a contact nap now. He’s always been so good at napping, I can’t face the cot battle. But he’s also resisting this contact nap now, even though he’s very obviously tired, rubbing his eyes, his head keeps flopping on me and he snuggles in, but then perks up again wiggling around i’m pulling at my ears, face and anything else you can grab hold of. I put him on me to cuddle as soon as I saw he was getting tired. We use Huckleberry , and sleep signals seem to align to when it’s the suggested naps. But it’s becoming such a battle 😭 xx

Is he trying to practice a new skill? Sometimes they will fight naps when they want to be awake to practice (even if they dont physically look like they're practicing and just being really difficult) then you'll find in a couple of days he might start doing something new and then all of a sudden sleep normally again. Both my boys have done this x

@Sophie thank you so much Sophie! Yes he’s just started trying to step when he’s pulling himself up on furniture. I really hope it is a phase!! That gives me hope thank you! Xx

No problem at all, there's always a reason developmentally why they regress with sleep🥰xx
