@Catherine we have an amazing baby monitor with great sound but because she can suddenly fall deeply asleep I worry that as I’m not in the room, I can’t see for myself.
I don’t let my baby sleep on their own yet, baby’s should sleep in the same Room as you including naps until at least 6 months old as they listen to our breathing/ noise which regulates their breathing.
We use a monitor to see/ hear. She goes up to bed in our room. We used to have her downstairs in the Moses basket all evening; naturally she couldn’t sleep and we had to be so quiet. We started taking her upstairs from around 6-7 weeks and it has made such a difference in OUR time. We can relax and enjoy each others company, which is much needed ! Our baby monitor is an app and we both have it in our phone. We get notifications of any movement / sound. We use white noise to drown out any other noises that could disturb her. Naturally, in the beginning we were both glued to the screen watching every movement. Over time, you do relax and it does become easier. ☺️
Once our baby goes to bed we usually watch tv in our bedroom why he’s sleeping then we still get time together but can keep an eye on baby too I hate leaving them alone until they are a little older
It’s tricky I don’t think we’ve mastered that … we have baby settled in living room have a cross over hour 7-8ish then 9 till 2/3am my husband is with baby and 2/3 till 9/10 am I’m with baby. If we get a window of time to have dinner together or watch tv that’s great but the sleep bit we just do shifts. We usually have coffee together in the morning and I look forward to that. I think it will be a long time before I’m comfy with the idea of him alone in his baby room, we have a monitor but I think I can sleep better with him next to me so I reckon it will be my husband leading on when we switch to him alone but I reckon time will fly and soon enough we’ll be back in the same room.
Maybe you could use a baby monitor for a short time at night before you also go to bed? There is also the owlet sock that might help, I’ve heard mixed reviews on it though.
