Hello! I’m still pretty much a newbie when it comes to crocheting, I’m following a pattern that says
Rnd 6: *1 sc, sc2tog* (8)
Is the ‘sc2tog’ just a decrease?

Yes. Usually just only hook around the front loop only of the next two stitches, yarn over, and pull through. It’s a neater finish. This is also known as an invisible decrease.
Thank you the patters I usually follow have ‘Dec’ So I was a bit stumped
