Gestational diabetes and birth

So this is my 3rd pregnancy but first time having gestational diabetes. I was wondering if any mums on here could tell me their experiences with labour with gestational diabetes? What happens after birth? Do they check urs and babies glucose often? Was you induced and is it much different that labour without induction? In a simple way, how is giving birth with gestational diabetes and healing different from giving birth and healing without it? Thank yoi

So i had gestational diabetes with my 3rd, and I was induced at 39 weeks. It was the worst experience of my life there was no gradual build-up in contractions they came thick and fast was horrible we had to stay in over night so they could monitor her bloods. You have 2 test after birth 1 at 6 weeks and another after a year to check your sugars. My little one is 14 months today and I'm absolutely fine,I healed exactly the same as my previous 2

My first pregnancy i had gestational diabetes, after the ghastly sugar drink 🤣 , i keot a food diary and tested my levels daily , I was induced on my due date , I gave birth teh following day and ny son was 7lbs 14oz, this was 16yrs ago and for me personally nobody did any test afterwards, I had the baby and that was it went home the next day, perhaps things have changed over the years. With my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies , I had the glucose tests and clear both times.

P.s I was just told after I had baby it go's away 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

@Elle (i can't see waves) yh, now they tell you that if u have GD that you could get diabetes type 1 within 7 years post birth if you dont continue to eat well. Theres also blood checks after, ik theres one 1yr after birth but think theres one at 3yrs etc

Oh wow that's crazy isn't it? To think that all them years ago I could of been diabetic and not known.....Although to be fair in 2018 I started slimming world and still do it now and although I've had 2 babies bk to bk , proud to be keeping 6st off!
