Getting ready the night before

Hey mamas Help me settle this please. I have twins, they’re in nursery 2 days a week and are a HANDFUL to say the least. Context- We come from black background so their hair is curly/afro and would take a long time to detangle and style. Getting them dressed consumes a lot of time and especially when they refuse - what ends up happening is I start getting frustrated and in turn unfortunately lose my patience with them. What I’ve started doing is getting them ready for nursery the night before. Before bed, I’ll give them a shower, change them into their clean clothes they’ll be wearing to nursery (leggings and jumpers usually. If dresses then they won’t wear them the night before) and I’ll do their hair and put a bonnet on them. They love their little bonnets which is a bonus cos it means their hair doesn’t get messy and only need to touch up in the morning. Before I started doing this, no matter what time I wake up, I am always late for drop off and getting into work. Currently I wake up 6.35/45ish to get myself ready then the twins and be out to have breakfast in nursery. (FYI - To do their hair, I have to put them in the high chair it’s the only way I can have them sit still.) My husband seems to think this is outrageous and that I am out of my mind for doing this. He isn’t involved in getting them ready (he leaves for work earlier than the time) hence why I think he doesn’t understand but his comments are making me question this. Is this wrong? Should I be waking up even earlier to get them ready instead of the night before?

Before I had kids, yes, I used to think this was absurd. How I have children and have to juggle the getting ready and tantrums etc, not at all. Whatever works for you and makes life easier.

I personally don't agree with putting clothes on children to sleep in. Pajamas/nightwear exists for a reason. I think you should be getting up earlier if that's what you have to do.

Personally, what I would like the most is your husband to agree with you and not judge you - you are doing your best and especially with twins ! I think it is absolutely fine! Especially if it saves you from the frustration. You could do the clothes in the morning if it isn’t too too much (not that I have any problem - I grew up in a household where we didn’t have separate sleep clothes - as long as they were clean we could sleep in them, they didn’t have to be nightwear)

I think you are doing the right thing and I appreciate you man you are working and doing all this with the twins 🙌 do whatever makes your life easier to be honest
