Planned c section.. help!

I’m really scared and worried for my elective c section this week. Any words of wisdom or reassurance please will help! I’m super emetophobic so scared of feeling or being sick laying down. That’s literally why I’m terrified x

They give you anti sickness if you feel sick I’ve got loads of advice I had 1 it’s not as bad as you think give me a message and I’ll try help you as much as possible x

I had an elective on the 26th March and it was honestly the calmest experience. If you are worried about being sick then talk to your anaesthetist about it when they come to talk to you before the operation. Mine was amazing, constantly checked in with me throughout to check I was feeling ok. They can give you anti-sickness meds in your cannula that should mean you won’t be sick. Tell them as soon as you feel even a bit nauseous and they will react. Their sole job in the operating theatre is to look after you.

I have had three sections. Only felt sick for one of them. I told the anaesthetist and she gave me something that worked immediately. I couldn't believe how quickly they worked! Sections are very chilled though. Own music played in theatre, lights dimmed if you want, even aromatherapy offered at my hospital. The staff all knew their roles and I felt so safe in their hands.

Heyy! I had a planned C-section 8 weeks ago! I not emetophobic however am needle phobic, and it was honestly so much better than I thought it would be, it’s very relaxed, and you will have a cannula in your hand and I was given antisickness medicine before hand, as well as during so I didn’t feel nauseous at all!

Hi! I was really scared about this as well but I didn’t get any nausea at all. If you do, do tell them and they can give you something that works in seconds. So just know that it can be solved if it happens! Found the whole experience way more chill than I expected and honestly quite fun! The radio is one, surgeons and midwives were chatting away with me, and the anaesthetist next to me was doing his emails 🤣 It was honestly way less scary than I thought. Let them know anything that you’re worried about and they will be able to help.

Hey! I also have emetophobia, I’ve had 1 emergency section and my last one was elective back in October. I didn’t feel sick during either procedure but as others have said, if you feel sick at all tell them straight away and they will give you anti sickness through your cannula. I’m pretty sure I asked them if they could give me it anyway as a preventative but can’t remember if they actually did 😂!

They will give you an anti-emetic so you won’t feel or be sick

The anaesthetist is brilliant, they stand right by your head and their job is to make sure you don't feel sick that you are calm, they just keep adjusting drugs the whole way through. I did feel really sick with my first but it was an emergency so they do everything much quicker and I just had too much of the spinal block. With the planned one they just take their time, they kept asking me how I felt as I soon as I felt the smallest bit sick the anesthetist put something else through my canula and I felt immediately better, I had such a crush on that guy by the end 🤣 So honestly you'll be fine, just convey your fears and they will make sure you are fine xx

I had a C-section in February and it was the most amazing experience of my life. From start to finish, I was super nervous but they were so transparent with me as to what I can expect. If you’d like more details of my personal experience, feel free to PM me xx
