Hospital stay

Does anyone know if you HAVE to stay 2 nights after giving birth? If all is well with me and baby can I go home after the first night? My son will be 23 months and I’m nervous to leave him, I’ve never been away from him more than a few hours :/

I didn’t with my first. I had a quick and uncomplicated delivery, we stayed 36 and then I asked to be discharged. I did have to take my son into the pediatric office the next day to double check his bilirubin so they made me make the appointment in the hospital to ensure there was an appointment but other than that they let us go without arguments.

For me, it was whenever baby and I were cleared by the doctors after my C-section. I feel the same way, my baby will be 2 yrs 2 months and I've never been away from her that long either. I'd just see how you're feeling and let them know you'd like to leave as soon as you're able to. With my first I went home 1 day earlier than I was allowed because I wanted to be home. I'm assuming that will be the case for you if everything goes smoothly.

gave birth 1 am on a thursday and went home at 4/5 pm friday

My daughter was born just after midnight, and we only stayed for the next night. I thought we’d want the full two nights in the hospital, but it was much easier to be home in our space. It all depends on how you and baby are doing post/delivery and when your doctor clears you.

@Cait so much easier at home! And comfortable.
