Question for Breast feeding moms

Called the hospital and no one wants to answer me and my own doctors are neglecting to call me back. Someone please I’ve been calling since 6pm and i just got off work. My 5 month old has to eat. Can I breast feed my kid ? Even if I drank Pepsi bismol ? The internet keeps telling me no.

how much did you have? was it yhe recommended serving?

Not even I took 2 of the kids pepto bismol gummies

Cant stand the taste of the adult one

Is the situation that you’ve taken pepto bismol without realising it’s unsafe for breastfeeding? A single dose is unlikely to cause any harm to your baby but the possibility is there due to the ingredients. It’s unclear whether or not it actually passes into the breastmilk and apparently bismuth isn’t absorbed into your blood stream so wouldn’t show up in your milk. If you have no expressed milk you can give then I would just breastfeed and make sure you keep an eye on baby in case of any issues, but it’s highly unlikely such a small dose would have any effect at all

the active ingredient in pepto is toxic to babies but it's unknown how much is absorbed by the mother. the consensus I got from the websites my doc recommended I check was that you should be fine to breastfeed right now, but try to avoid taking pepto again while breastfeeding

My three year old got me sick and I cannot hold anything down. I don’t know if it was from letting the rice sit out and eating rice then but I needed something to try and stop myself from releasing everything I try to eat and it not the noro because no one else is sick but him and I my husband is fine and the baby is fine

I’m just so scared by trying to take care of me I hurt my baby in the process

If you're really worried then offer baby some formula.

Honestly your baby will be perfectly fine, the amount that *may* pass into breastmilk would be so small it’s super unlikely for it to have any effect at all. People have ingested MUCH worse and it’s had absolutely no effects on their baby.
