Endometriosis

Hi guys, I’ve recently been told I have endometriosis and cysts on my ovaries but it can only be confirmed with a laparoscopy. Which I’m dreading, I’m happy all my symptoms have been listened to and I’m getting the answers I needed but it’s a lot to get my head around. My mum died 18 months ago during surgery and 3 months ago my grandad died a day after his surgery so it’s difficult to accept the surgery but I know I need to have it to help me as I’ve got 3 children (7, 3 and 1) and to be the best parent, I need to be the best version of myself. Has anyone else got endometriosis and can either ease my mind or explain the process? I have spoke to my partner and also my work and explained I’m feeling scared and overwhelmed, they’ve both been great at reassuring but I feel like to everyone else it’s just “a heavy period” and I’ll be okay during surgery as what happened to my mum and grandad isn’t always the case. I’m hoping maybe speaking to someone who’s experienced/experiencing the same thing would help me

Hi Courtney, when I have my first babe I was having heavy bleeding after a year and a doctor make the diagnosis of endometriosis. I was not happy with the idea so I went and did a second consultation and it turns out not to be that. I will strongly suggest before you get into a surgery get another opinion and see if it is definitely the right call. Try to go to hospitals that are specialist on it and not just your local hospital.

I’ve got had 2 done due to endometriosis. Honestly i didn’t find it bad at all after… I had 8 key holes for mine as mine spread to my bowel. Let me know if you have questions but the surgery was fine and so was recovery and it’s classed as minor surgery xx
