You might need a doctors note and sometimes that works to get your formula approved!

Your pediatrician has to write a form saying you need a special formula and WIC has to honor it.

Shh…I would get the cans and sell them on a marketplace, then take that money to get the formula my baby needed. 😏 but you didn’t hear that from me. You gotta do whatever it takes to get what’s best for your baby. And don’t let people take advantage on that sell price either. People will try to get for free everything if they can.

My son is allergic to dairy. He had to take the Similac alimentum and we had to get a note from his pediatrician.

You will have to have your Pediatrician fill out a form for it and have them fax it to your Wic office. I had to do this for my son. I still have to do it because even though he is 3, he is on Pediasure to help with growth.

She need gentlease and that’s not covered I spoke to wic and they said they only do specialty ones with a doctors note

We got a prescription for Neocate Syneo due to CMPA. WIC gave us 10 cans until my little was 1 years old with a doctor’s recommendation. 10 cans of that is $500. It’s only a 14oz can. Just go to your pediatrician and tell them baby isn’t tolerating “x” but you tried “y” and they are more comfortable. Or ask for a suggestion. If your pediatrician doesn’t agree or advocate for your child’s comfort, find a new one!

Please, please do not buy and sell wic items publicly. Especially marketplace, they do pay attention and you will get in trouble. 😬 talking to your pediatrician and getting a prescription that wic has to honor is your best option.

My WIC office never gave me the option or mentioned about a prescription from the doctor to change my options, even after I informed them that my baby did best on other formulas. It’s great that you guys knew that option or that your WIC office informed you. But, I wouldn’t personally buy off marketplace, no, but I’ve had so many people say they were thankful to have someone selling for less than a store. Because they couldn’t get the benefits nor did they have the money. I had to do what I had to do. If you find better options great! Advocate for your baby or do what you need to do cause no one lives your life or gets the life you get. This was years ago, yes, but I don’t regret doing the only thing that I knew to do that worked for my baby. 👍

We used gentle ease and it was covered by WIC. Once the formula shortage was “over” we switched to the purple Similac instead of the Enfamil, but my son tolerated it well.

And I bring up the shortage because Wic stopped covering enfamil all together. And when they stopped that it was still very hard to find certain formula so that was frustrating
