Introducing Pepti

Me again! I’ve finally got my pepti to start with, but neither my health visitor or my doctor have given me any information of how to introduce it! Don’t you love it when you leave numerous messages but they aren’t responded to 🫠 Any tips would be so helpful - I’ve read about potentially adding alcohol free vanilla essence, and doing every other bottle for a few days to get them used to it rather than a straight swap?

when we started pepti we done a straight switch the paed said if u can its better and i added vanilla essence in first 3 bottles then after that he drank fine x

I had to mix it with regular milk increasing a scoop per day

@Ansa okay amazing! I wasn’t sure if it was a straight swap over thing or not!

I was told to straight swap over - my LO didn't mind the taste

@Scarlet 🤍 no problem, good luck x

We did a straight swap. We were using aptamil 1 before and didn’t need to use vanilla or anything for the taste my little one took to it fine.. hope you start to see an improvement soon! X

We did a straight swap as doctor didn't want him having anymore regular formula. He drank it fine but did struggle with how thin it is so we had to thicken it at first and go down a teat size x

I just swapped my baby’s milk one ounce at a time. So like for a seven ounce bottle she got 6 normal milk and 1 pepti then every bottle I went up. Worked great for her xx

Have you girls seen an improvement since using it? I need some positive stories, I am already feeling like the world’s worst mum!

@Scarlet 🤍 it worked wonders for my little boy, he's 13 months now and has been on it since around 10 weeks old! It doesn't work for everyone but was a lifesaver for us, he was so much more settled and comfortable. It did take around 6 weeks for all his symptoms to clear but he was visibly less uncomfortable after the first few days, his skin cleared up fairly quickly and the explosive nappies stopped! Xx

@Isobel this is exactly the pep talk I needed! Can your little boy have any dairy now? I just feel so bad for not recognising an issue faster x

We're just starting the milk ladder now as he's also allergic to eggs so we'd been doing that ladder first! He's had a little bit of a malted milk biscuit so far and not had any severe reaction so fingers crossed 🤞🏼 the only reason we realised so quickly was because we stopped breastfeeding and as soon as we started formula he broke out in the most horrendous eczema from head to toe, starting curling up in a bawl and screaming 24/7, as well as the explosive nappies! Please don't feel bad! Xx

Just in case you need hope for the egg allergy, my friend’s little girl had such a severe reaction she was hospitalised a few times, and now she is eating scrambled eggs for breakfast!

Coming up to 4th week on it now and definitely improving! He seems so much less uncomfortable, less wind issues and sleeping longer stretches - not sure if that one’s related but it’s only happened since the change. It took us 8 weeks to figure out what was going on, and just lucky we have a supportive GP who started us on the milk straight away. I know some like to treat for reflux first and try different things. Don’t be too hard on yourself, it’s so hard to know what’s going on when they can’t tell you. At least hopefully you’ll start to see some changes now x

Use carobel with it because it’s so thin xxx

We did a straight swap, took a few days for him to get used to the taste and finish the bottles but now he can’t get enough

@Scarlet 🤍 my lb is thriving on it. Finally was listened too around 13 weeks and it was like a flick of a switch, he has really bad silent reflux and reflux, he had horrible colic, uncomfortable, terrible poos, slight rash just very upset at the world took about a week for him to get used to pepti 1 and a few more weeks for all symptoms to go. He had reflux until about 10 months but after he was on pepti it never bothered him. He’s now 14 months can tolerate some products with milk in, but there is so much food you can give without it or alternatives! It will get better 💫

Carobel my lb struggled with and he ended up pooping 7/8 times a day. Some babies just do tolerate it, unfortunately we just accepted the slight reflux over trying to thicken milk and it went at 10 months

@jess thank you so much for this! It’s so much nicer speaking to other mums who actually know what this feels like, rather than a GP who has no idea!

The eczema is getting even worse, it’s pretty much covered his whole body since this morning, but we’ve only been on the formula since yesterday - I’m really trying to give it time but I’m just not sure I can 😢😢
