they’re actually the same thing but i feel like colic should be used if the crying is caused by pain and PURPLE should be used when it’s developmental. but according to pediatricians they’re the same thing, just describes a baby who excessively cries. my son was colicky for a few weeks due to acid reflux

@Kaliyah my baby is 7 weeks and keeps crying idk if it’s colic, reflux, purple crying or development

Colic isn’t real purple crying is. Colic is just something doctors use to write off excessive crying and is either purple crying in a highly sensitive child or a health issue (allergy, reflux, etc)

@Abi they go through a developmental growth between 6-8 weeks so this might be why your baby is acting this way if it’s out of their usual character! they’re meant to be a lot more fussier between these weeks than normal x

@Abi talk to your pediatrician at their 2 month appointment. take note of how babe is acting when or before crying. i knew mine had reflux because he his crying would start after he ate especially at night, didn’t want to sleep on his back, would scream and scream when placed on his back, and just wanted to eat and eat because babies with GERD think it helps their tummy. he also was impossible to soothe
