@Georgia my health visiter said the same thing about starting it in the summer so I'm doing the same
My lo is still in nappies but will be starting potty training today
We attempted potty training last week but it didn’t go well, so my LO is still in nappies. We will try again after baby #2 arrives.
You’ve got a baby too - don’t put pressure on yourself you don’t need, life’s tough enough as it is!!! (I also have a 3 month old too!!) you’re doing great 💪🏻 They’ll get it when they get it, and summer will make it so much easier to tackle ☺️
I get the summer advice for night time but what’s the benefit in the day? Apart from the excesses of washing drying faster?
@Cal I think it's also to do with easier clothing to remove when they want to go potty etc
My little one is also still in nappies! We wanted to wait for a long bank holiday and thankfully a few are coming up to start. Summer also sounds about right! Don’t worry. I have also been told by other mums with older kids that their toddlers initiated it and that’s when they started focusing on it.❤️
It really went well today, no accidents She immediately goes for the potty when she needs to wee but didn’t make a poo today ( she mostly tells me before going for the potty but also doesn’t tell me and go for the potty right away) Hopefully she do same for poos tomorrow
My boy is still in nappies too and we will probably start potty training in the summer! It’s better to start when they’re ready!
My little boy is still in nappies! Tried at 2 and 5 months over half term and he cried everytime we went near the potty. I wanted to start again over Easter but at the end of the month our whole house is being renovated so we will be out of it for a couple of weeks plus we are going on holiday. I plan to start around middle of may in better weather and we can be at home more but out in the garden etc. my wee one has only started noticing his nappy being wet now. I’m not going to rush it, they all do it in their own time x
Thank you all so much for sharing xx it’s really helpful to know we are not the only ones. I hate the pressure and questions coming from family.
We started around 2 weeks ago. There have been a lot of ups and downs. We've been seeing progress but, I feel it's stagnant at the moment....OH Crap it's potty training book is good. She emphasizes how it's more important for the parent to be motivated and ready to do potty training more than your little one. So do it when you feel you can dedicate the time to it for your toddler!
My son is still in nappies. I tried potty training in January but he wasn’t ready so I’m leaving it another couple of months. I’m not too concerned as he was late meeting other milestones. I also followed the Oh Crap! Method but it was unrealistic for us to send him to the childminder for month going commando under his trousers. He did really well in January and would do wees and poos in the potty when naked around the house but as soon as we introduced trousers he would either wet his trousers or wait until he had his nappy on at nap time and then do his wees and poos.
@Amy my lo is does same Wees and poo in her potty when naked but wet herself when in trousers, thinking of what to do to get her to use the potty when in trousers or shorts We started yesterday and it’s going well so far

@Stephanie I’ve heard some people suggest going straight to pants in the hopes that the wet feeling will be uncomfortable for them works. Not tried it myself yet though. I’ve actually bought my son a baby doll that comes with a bottle and a potty. I initially got it because he likes playing with them but it’s great that it comes with a potty as now he’ll say baby needs a wee or poo and will take her trousers off and sit her on the potty. Hoping that this will help for when we do start potty training again.
@Amy this worked best for us. 3 days of accidents then day 4 barely any. 🤷🏻♀️
My toddler whos almost 3 was doing well telling me when she needed a number 2. Went well for almost a month or 2 then all of a sudden after going in to childcare, I've gone back to square one. She won't tell me at all anymore I just have to forcefully put her on the toilet after every meal. Majority of the time it does work. But it's so hard and draining with a 4month old 😓
My little girl is still in Nappies I don’t think she’s ready for potty training yet I’m not starting yet either as will have a new baby soon so maybe in the summer I will try with her x
My boy is still in nappies! Please don’t feel guilty about it! When the health visitor come out for his 2 year review she came when he was around 2 years 3 months she told me not to bother right now to do it in the summer as it’s much easier so that’s what I’m going to do x
