Teeth issues??

I noticed my 1 year old baby started getting the upper teeth yellowish. I took her to my doctor and she said to brush her teeth and when I did for the first time it bled then next day, I tried again and thank God there was no blood, but I think it was way too sensitive, and she was crying way too much . I tried to brush her teeth here and their. Now the teeth, they just have small round yellow spots and one of her tooth is chipped. Not sure how she could’ve hit her with the spoon. Anyone knows this?

Looks like the enamel is coming off 😔

@Sarah what is that?

Enamel is the protective layer outside your teeth it’s what makes your teeth appear white. Enamel loss can be from acid reflux, consuming foods with too much acidity, poor oral hygiene, teeth grinding, or genetic factors

Have you been wiping her teeth with a cloth? That might help with getting her use to brushing

@Jadie she hates when i go near her teeth and screams. Sometimes i just use my finger to wipe her teeth with water

I would just keep at it. 2-3 times a day. My Lo doesn’t like it either. I let her do some brushing and then I finish brushing her teeth. Keep up the habit

It doesn’t look normal, I agree the enamel is coming off. Kinda seems like she’s grinding her teeth, she might be doing it in her sleep.

Does she still breastfeed?

Brushing when bleeding the first 2 times is okay because the gums aren’t used to it that

Take her to a pediatric dentist instead of the doctor. Make sure you're using a toothbrush and toothpaste intended for babies.

Hey, it's okay. My little sister had this and it got worse over time. The bad news is it can get and look worse. Eventually it can look like it has holes or if the tooth were rotten. The good news is it only lasts within the baby teeth stage. After the baby teeth fell off, her adult teeth came in beautifully! See if there's a toddler toothpaste to create a layer of protection for the tooth like how sensodyne does for adults.

@J.B yes i am still

@Molly not a normal dentist?

@Sasha yes i got her orajel its for tooth and gum cleanser for babies

My son hates brushing his teeth. I pin him down and give them a good brush.

You must brush them with toothpaste twice a day. If you don’t it will just get worse, try to limit acidic food and brush after her last meal/bottle at night so it isn’t sitting there

A pediatric dentist specializes in children and it will be a more positive experience considering you've already expressed your child's discomfort.

It looks like molar incisor hypo-mineralisation or could be amelogenesis imperfecta. Was she sick as a baby? Did she eat a lot of toothpaste? Loads of things could cause it but it’s likely she’s much higher risk of decay

i would consult a dentist. they would be able to tell you much more than any of us.

As much as baby doesn't like it, she needs them brushed. Have you had her first dentist appt yet? The moment teeth start to pop through it's best to take them along for them to get used to it and also for the dentist to look at them. She needs her teeth brushed twice daily just like you. She may not like it but she needs it! Even get her to have her toothbrush while you brush your own. My 11m old only has one tooth but he brushes his twice a day with me. I get in there the best I can after he's had it for 2 minutes.

Drinking juice/sugary drinks from a bottle/sippy cup can cause this too I've seen it a lot in child care

Does he drink juice out of a bottle?

@Toni nope. Not at all. Her diet contains of fruits , ceralac and my milk Breast-feed

I had this once my baby teeth fell out, my adult teeth came in like that without the front enamel, the dentists said it could be a number of reasons, either a hard fall, certain unfiltered waters may cause this or ice! They stayed yellow no matter how many times they were professionally cleaned and eventually had to get fillings over them to prevent sensitivity, I hope your little one doesn’t have to struggle with that process but definitely keep an eye on it once she looses those baby teeth
