@Catherine she wouldn’t be able to cope with nothing on the bottom, I tried knickers again today whilst she was wearing a dress and she was hysterical over the fact I said she could wear her tights a bit later as I just wanted to make it easier for her to try the potty. I leave the door open when I go to the toilet so she can see it’s not scary and she will sit on her potty with me but with trousers on and she’ll pretend she’s done a wee but when it comes to the real thing she physically can’t pull her knickers down and sit on the potty but she’ll happily let us change her pull up. I just don’t know how to crack this, I think she’s possibly gotten a fear of using the toilet as when I first tried potty training maybe a year and half ago she was very constipated (still is but is a lot better than what she was) so I just wanted to get her in a good poo position so it could come out easier (she sits on the floor scrunched up) but the potty/toilet just made her scream the house down.
I had my partner help when we did it, made it so much easier so when we got a little frustrated we swapped over etc. Had nothing on the bottom, made a huge thing about ourselves going to the toilet etc. started with a small treat after every successful go, got bored quickly so changed it up. Maybe try a doll or bear in pants and do some roll play? Go knicker shopping
My partner helps but she’s very stubborn, I’ve tried recently with knickers but again she just stood there sobbing because she feels more comfortable in a pull up 🙁 she has started doing role play herself with one of her Teletubbies, sits it on the potty and tells me they’ve done a wee wee and a poo poo and she’ll sit on the toilet with the lid down reading it a book 😂 she’s been ready for so long now but she’s terrified to do it and I just don’t know how to get over that fear. She’s got so many different knickers, Minnie Mouse, Bluey, butterflies etc and she loves all of the patterns but it’s not enough to make her feel like she wants to be a big girl x
You mentioned trying knockers for a day, have you tried nothing on the bottom? Totally normal for the first day/s to have multiple accidents but may be worth seeing if you fully commit to no going back to nappies if that helps. My son took a good while to get the hang of it and poos took about 2 months for him to finally do on a potty! It sucked but it did just click!
