Opinion on spelling

Think we like the name Austin/Ostyn for a boy but just trying to decide on spelling. Partner likes one and I like the other. Think we will call them Ozzy as a nickname. Any other similar suggestions also welcome! 😊

Austin. I can tell you as someone with an unusual spelling, it's been really annoying and I resent it. Not that everyone feels the same way, but it's my 2 cents.

As someone with a fairly common name with a common variation but never being able to find my name on souvenirs, it was annoying and disappointing as a child. It still kind of is. It's also really annoying having to correct the spelling. As a side note, the spelling of Ostyn makes me want to pronounce it as Oh-Stin instead of Aw-Stin.

Also love this if we have a boy again, shortened to Ozzy too, I would go with Austin just for the ease of it. I often get Alissiya and Alesha when people read it and if I say it no one can ever spell it, it’s annoying, so personally would use Austin

@Kelli exactly how I feel, all of it

Reading “Ostyn” makes me want to say Austin only with a severe Boston accent 😅

If you want to spell it differently I would just do Austyn then people will still pronounce it right! But I agree as a kid I didn’t like not finding my name in souvenirs

do not do ostyn

Go with the traditional spelling. The other way makes it seem like you don't know how to spell it. If you want to call them ozzy, then name them ozzy

I think of oysters 😂 Austin is a great name and spelling

@Francesca I thought oyster when I first looked too 😂

Thanks all. Austin it is! 😁
