I’d maybe give 2 options if it’s possible for you to do so. I’d offer a weekday morning then a weekday evening.
@Natalie interesting thank you! I didn’t expect 3-4pm, isn’t this when parents usually are just picking them up? I guess it depends on whether the little ones are doing morning or full day sessions…
@Kalina we pay until 6 and pick my daughter up at 4.45. When she does a half day she finishes at 1 but we don't collect my mum does cos I'm at work until 4.
The webinar sounds purely optional and nothing critical I really wouldn't overthink it and just make sure you share a recording or notes afterwards. Our nursery opens 8-6 and we work 9-5 so as Natalie said doing something towards the end of the day might be easier. Or around lunchtime!
@Caroline oh I haven’t thought of lunchtime! That’s a great idea actually! I assume that is 1pm for most? I would definitely try to keep it brief, 30-45 minutes so hopefully that should be manageable during lunch break.
I would say a weekday afternoon, but also make it available after the event anytime
12pm or 12.30. And offer a recording to watch in.their own.time.if they missed it.
@Ghitta 12 or 12.30? I assumed 1pm was more common for lunchbreaks? Now the question is when most people have lunch 😅
@Kalina it'll hugely vary. I wouldn't tie yourself in knots trying to get everyone to attend. Just make the video available afterwards.
@Kalina I'd say 12.30. Hits the sweet spot. 1pm.is too late. If the do take lunch, they can nip out at 12, grab something and eat before or 12.30 or during webinar.. In most companies I've worked at, most go out around 12.30 for lunch.
You could also offer 2 sessions 12.30 And 8pm Most small kids are in bed by 7 and parents have time to eat before jumping on a call.
@Ghitta ok, good to know that 12.30 was most common in your experience! Regarding the evening session, the nursery told me that the children go to bed late, around 8 or 9 which is what the parents are struggling with which is why they would need my webinar, so I worry that their children might not be in bed yet if I start talking at 8… I am wondering if for the evening, 9pm would be suitable or if that’s too late…
Wow that's very late! What are these parents doing!? Goodness. I have a child who never sleeps but find it weird a whole nursery has kids going to bed so late. Do a midday session instead. Think these parents already don't have much of an evening. Besides, day time they'll have more capacity to listen as they'll already be exhausted at night and just want to shut down. Also... where there is a will, there's a way. If they deprecated need it, they'll make a plan to attend. But I really think day time.
@Ghitta I do wonder how the nursery knows when all the children go to bed honestly… not a typical conversation at drop off/pick up time surely 😂 although I know that it’s common for children to become overtired and then struggling to fall asleep so many parents need support. I will aim for lunchtime then, that sounds like what would work for the majority!
If possible I'd say towards the end of the working day (3- 4pm or something) as if parents are working then could possibly just finish a bit earlier as opposed to 10 which is slap bang in the middle of the morning.
