Hi lovely, UC hasn’t stopped me from trying for a baby but I have been in remission since the end of 2023, I believe I was told that being in a flare up makes it harder to conceive and it’s better if your not in a active flare up but I don’t think it stops you all together. I’m currently 11 weeks pregnant with my second but 1st since being diagnosed with UC, I have to see a specialist at the hospital because of my UC and even though I’ve been in remission for over a year there is still talk of me starting blood thinners at some point in my pregnancy as people with UC are more likely to develop blood clots and baby to be either small or come early. Again it won’t be the same for every woman and every pregnancy if you give your UC doctor a ring and ask they would be able to point you in the right direction of what to do and if you need to change medication xx
My girl is 2 years old now and I did have a rough pregnancy with bleeding and had to have an emergency c sec, she came out fine but I had sepsis so just want to do everything right where possible
Diagnosed 2022 with UC my LO has just turned 1 and nothing special was done through pregnancy and nothing different appointment wise to my other 3 pregnancies before being diagnosed x
Thanks ladies
Diagnosed at 14 and 36 now trying for my first. We have unexplained fertility but it doesn't have to do with my UC. I take three pills a day of Mesalamine to remain in remission. Hopefully soon if I get pregnant was advised to stay on medication it won't affect it at all
Good luck @Stephanie
@Heather thank you!!
I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago but have had symptoms for soo long … but my daughter is 6 months old so I didn’t do anything differently really? Not sure what advise they’d give me now but she’s healthy x
