The throwing on top of the cat is a bit unique haha. Mine has slowly stopped doing this (only on occasion used to be every meal). I just calmly say "uh oh, that doesn't belong on the on floor" and usually pick it up right away and throw it out or I might even leave it. I just found some success in saying no, but being relatively indifferent. My LG was looking for a reaction out of me.
I say “all done” if he starts throwing food and take away the food when he starts throwing. He knows i won’t give him more and he is done with his meal. Luckily mine does it after eating a good amount so I’m not worried. Hopefully yours throws food at the end of the meal too :)
@Marissa our one cat literally does not care. She will eat the food off her back and go about her day. I’m not sure if she’s doing it for a reaction because she definitely will like laugh in your face. I tried to calmly explain to her that like we don’t throw food and show her that we can just push it away if we don’t want it. However, it seems like she does it at every meal now and even at my mom‘s house. She actually threw food at my mom tonight.
@Natalie unfortunately she started throwing her lunch The second I gave it to her. I’m assuming it’s because that’s not what she wanted. So I wouldn’t feel right just taking the tray from her. I’ve also noticed it’s her way of saying she doesn’t want this particular food so I try to give her something else and then when she starts throwing that then I take it away.
I’m in the same boat so you’re not alone!
