Nursery admissions

Just wondering how far in advance everyone has booked their child into nursery? We’ve planned for our daughter to attend nursery from September 2026 so she’ll be just under 3 by 1 month, should I arrange to view a nursery and that now? Or is it way too early for that?

I booked our nursery place when I was 16 weeks pregnant for when my daughter reached 9 months, we only needed 2 days a week and I got the last space, that was around 15 months in advance. I have friends looking at around June/July next year and they're on waiting lists, so definitely start viewing now and get your name down

@Kathryn thank you lovely xx

I think as the ratios change the demand will too, but it depends if you know which nursery you'll want and if you want a specific one it's worth enquiring now. Demand also varies based on area. I think by 3 pre schools will also be an option.. 🤔

We had to get the place when I was around 14 weeks pregnant for him to start at 1 year. I’d for sure look now, especially with all the extra funding in place I think more and more people are taking up nursery places and then you have peace of mind that you’ve got a place x

Do it now :) my girl had her place from 2 weeks old ready for when she was 10 months old and she took the last 2 days that were available

@Ruth yes we’ve chosen a nursery that have a outstanding rating from ofsted compared to others in our area, our plan was to send her to nursery for a year a couple days a week to get into socialising with other children etc and then starting pre school when she is 4 so it won’t be too much of a shock for her xx

@Leanne @Yasmin thank you girls, I’ve just submitted the form so hopefully ive done it in enough time, I’m sure 19 months is plenty of notice I hope🤣🤞🏻 xx

Better to do it earlier rather than later. Some nurseries have a long waiting list. X

I wanted to up my little boy for 2½ days from Jan 2026, and they've told me I'm on a waiting list. Nursery places in quality settings are like gold dust!

@Leanne yeah I believe it’s 12 months waiting in my area but could’ve changed xx

@April it’s better to be on a waiting list than nothing at all, even if I have to wait I don’t mind it’ll be worth it to have a brilliant nursery, I want the best for her🤞🏻 some nursery’s in my area I’ve heard bad things so I’ve picked it wisely xx

Update, she’s now on the waiting list to start in September 2026🥰 xx

From the 20-week scan mine were booked in! Places fill up fast as I'm in a village, and I know my sons nursery already has no places left until at least January 2026 (possibly September 2026 now)

@Holly yeah it’s at least a 12 month wait in my area, we always knew that we wasn’t going to send her to nursery until she was 3 so I’ve sorted it now, we’re on the waiting list for September 2026, they said they wouldn’t have availability until then which is perfect as she’ll be 3 in the October 🥰 xx
