Raising kids in England V …

Hi there Please can I ask what your thoughts are on raising kids in the UK? Is there anywhere else you’d like to raise them? I’m a dual citizen of UK and Australia and I’m So torn with what to do.

Wouldn’t even be a question to me, my first choice would always be Australia between the two x

@Evie Mai this is what I’m thinking. Thanks so much for your input.

Definitely Australia, especially with the job prospects and the fact that they pay more than UK.

If i could I'd go to Australia.

If I could I’d also live in Australia.

Thank you. I’m dual. Baby is dual. Babies dad isn’t. I do feel down think 🇦🇺is the better future even tho we won’t be close to our families.

If I had the chance of taking my family to aus I wouldn't hesitate. Would suck to be so far from family but the life my daughter could have would be so much better.

Hard choice really as its so far.. Depends how much you can live far away without your family and support (if this is the case) And NHS. All other things id say aus

Oz - for the weather alone! So sick of 11 months of grey miserable weather, shit is depressing as fuck and also the fact summer here is like 3 days. Bills keep on rising, we are headed for another recession. If I could leave I would in a heartbeat.

Lived in Australia for a few years and its my biggest regret that I never stayed. Now back in the UK and had my first baby and so wish I could take her to grow up there. There is a lot to be said just for good weather alone, it's so massively conducive to mental and physical health and also a full and rounded life, easier/cheaper to socialise. Then the job prospects are so much better too. I personally feel Aus is one of the last few lands of opportunity, how they used to refer to US and the UK. UK is descending and fast and I really don't see a lot of quality of life here, certainly not easy for most anyway. There is no contest imo. I vote Australia!

@Rhiannon thank you!! Can you go back? Myself and my baby are both citizens. My mum wants me to return to 🇦🇺 ~ she says it’s by far a better life for us.

Sadly not. I left to live/work in Canada and then New Zealand and by the time I was done I was too old to go back to Aus and I don't have any desirable qualifications for them to let me in. Gutted. I 100% agree with your mum. When did you last live there and what do you feel could be the negatives? I guess it may depend also on what you like to do as a person too and your own career atm and how it may be in Aus for you.....also where in Aus you may end up living as in the UK, you are never really far from a big city but in Aus you could be miles and hrs away so that coudl factor in to your decision. X

@Rhiannon thank you. Lived in Sydney as a backpacker and Melbourne as a resident. Got my citizenship. Wanted to be with family for having the baby and this was 100% the right call …. But now …. I don’t want to be here! Happy to try another state and start again there. It’s just so so so far away isn’t it 😔

From the UK and personally wouldn't choose to live here to raise kids, we have to at the moment but we'll be moving as soon as possible

Thank you. I can see why people want to leave. I had to come back to have the baby - well wanted to come back … but to raise a child, I think not now 😔
