Me either! Also I feel like that’s what we’re paying for not screen time. But I don’t know if I’m overreacting (Also when I said quite late picking him up it was still before the end of the day but we normally go a bit earlier)
At our previous nursery, they used to watch a little bit whilst the staff tidied up. But over the 2 years I probably saw him watching something twice when I picked him up. So it's very uncommon.
My daughter’s preschool watch tv 15 minute before closing time. They have a sensory room for it
At school they watch TV, at school I watched TV, it's everything in moderation as far as I'm concerned.....ask questions when &why is TV used, for what length of time, are other activities on offer? Is it to support learning linked to another activity. I don't think we should rule it out without understanding why first.
At our son's nursery there are no screens at all. However at the nursery attached to the school I work in we have a whiteboard the kids often call the TV and they watch things relatable to their topic such as watching penguins swimming and moving around on world book day, animal sound games, number blocks when learning new numbers. It's never just general TV. Did your child say what they had been watching?
They watch tv at my son’s nursery. It’s a huge iPad on the wall which is mainly used for them to scribble on and do simple maths and reading activities but they put the tv on after lunchtime for 30 mins or so and the kids do dancing. It goes on again from around 5pm onwards as that’s when the parents begin to pick the kids up so it’s a good distraction for the ones like my boy who are usually there until around 5 minutes to 6 lol. Personally I think it’s fine. If you feel strongly about it though you could say something but I doubt they will change it unless a lot of the parents were against it. I would maybe give it a few weeks though if your son has just started as the main thing is that he is happy and settled. The tv might help him while he’s going through this transition, especially if it’s to help during the pick up window xx
I don’t think they should be watching tv at nursery, it’s a form of school they should be learning and doing activities
