I have hypothyroidism. I was just closely monitored. From what I was told it doesn’t impact implantation, the concern is more related to an increased Mc risk. No issues with my first pregnancy but with my 2nd my tsh shot up high in early pregnancy and they had to change my dose of levothyroxine.
Hi @Christin @Traceythank you for your replies Was your levels checked right before transfer or egg collection as mine were only last done in November at my pre checks and were never checked again. So I’m curious if they should have been checked.
Mine were checked around april/may last year before a failed round. When I was put on levothyroxine I was checked approx every 6 weeks
@Tracey I’ve been on 75mcg for the last 2 years now. Was initially started on 100mcg but was too high changed to 75mcg and had been stable/normal since. Last checked November last year still normal. Fresh transfer back in 2023 failed and failed again with latest fresh transfer got BFN last week. Would it be necessary to have been monitored a bit more better during egg collection/ transfer with thyroid or would you say that it’s pretty normal not to defer from the dose until I get a positive test. Just worried that my thyroid is reason for another failed transfer 😔 and I’m preparing for the next few months of my only frozen one that’s left.
I'm definitely not an expert and every clinic is different but as a soon as I got my abnormal result the clinic insisted on blood tests at least every 6 weeks, sometimes every 4 weeks. This continued after I was lucky to get a positive test and they wrote to my gp requesting that I continue to have tests and treatment. I'm still having blood tests but less often
@Tracey thanks for this, I’m going to ask some questions at my next consultation. I feel like my thyroid is off at the moment. Not sure if it’s coming down off all the hormones but I don’t remember suffering with night sweats as I am now last time. I remembered getting them before being diagnosed but didn’t think anything of it. So I might ask the GP at least to check them. Thank you just hard to navigate round IVF as well not sure what is right from wrong.
@Zara they did check it at the beginning of my cycle and it was normal.
I was put on 50mcg levothyroxine before second transfer (3rd egg retrieval) as my tsh levels were slightly raised. I'm still taking it now at 22 weeks and take 75mcg at weekends. We did a few other things differently for our successful transfer compared to the one that failed so I'm not sure how much of it working is due to thyroid medication. Good luck!
