Feeling really guilty for not giving my son a sibling yet….

My son is 2.. 3 in may and we have no intentions of having another baby just yet. But I feel this insane amount of guilt when he plays alone and when his friends have brothers and sisters… he’s never mentioned having one and I’ve never felt this way but recently it’s consuming my thoughts all the time… please can I have others opinions on siblings etc? Thanks!

I’m an only child and i personally didn’t enjoy it all that much although i have a small family anyway so i had always planned to give my daughter a sibling quite close in age. But there’s no guarantee they will play nicely and get on so 🤷‍♀️ I’d also say everyone’s circumstances and family dynamics are different and it’s far more important to have happy parents that give everything they can to their children rather than giving them a sibling.

@Chloe my brother was 13 years older than me so I grew up with just me in my household once he moved out at 18 and I begged my parents for a sibling growing up but had an amazing childhood and wouldn’t change it at all now… I do want more children but I’m only 26 so have time and I’m enjoying him and getting the most of his earlier years before he goes to nursery in September.. I’m just not sure if I’d feel guilty about giving him a sibling too lol it’s such a hard one 😂

I’ve just had my second who is 12 weeks and I have a 2 year old and it has definitely impacted how much time I can spend with my toddler so I can understand why you’d be wary. I think there’s pros and cons to any which way you decide to do anything - just have to go with your gut and what’s right for your family! @Emma

@Chloe I agree completely… we always said we’d wait until he was in school full time so I’d have time to spend with the new baby.. I never expected to feel ready earlier or to feel this way as soon.. don’t think I’ll ever know what to do lol it’ll just be what is meant to be

@Emma absolutely! It will all work out in the end x
