Baby screaming for no reason?

My son is 4 months old this Friday, and he’s usually a really clam and smiley baby. Never really cries unless for like the usual stuff. Today we noticed he’s been a bit more fussy than usual and just an hour ago, he had a meltdown. Like hysterical crying and screaming as if in pain or something. I tried and checked everything and it was nothing. He just started screaming as if in pain when I put him down. He was normal one sec and the next screaming his lungs out and didn’t want to latch to me or anything! I was so scared. I picked him up and walked him around I turned on the shower and that seemed to calm him down a bit. Does anyone know what could’ve caused this? This has never happened before and he was fine and okay before I placed him down. There was nothing on the bed or anything that could’ve hurt him.

Maybe teething or growing pains. I always have some magnesium cream for kids on hand just in case. Rub it in their legs after a bath.

Could be gas. Could be overly sleepy. Could be something hurting him. I’d monitor it. Truthfully if this is out of his norm I’d see if it happens again and if so I would take him into dr.

This actually happened to my 4 month old today! I remembered his pediatrician saying if he starts crying like pain out of nowhere it is likely gas. We did a bunch of things to help him pass some of it but he kept waking up crying or melting down and would only calm when rubbing his tummy. I finally tried some gripe water and omg it helped so much. Only one dose and he has been great. I had a free sample from one of my registry gifts and ended up ordering one as well.

@Erika thank you so much !!

@Mariah thank you so much !! I wanted to take him but he seemed to calmed down after I’ll definitely monitor him cuz it was truly super frightening to see my baby like that

@SeaSea thank you so so much!! I will try that, I’m glad I’m not the only one. I was so scared!
