Fertility specialist

Just curious, how long were you ttc before going to see a fertility specialist for the first time? When did you first start going and how did you know you needed to see a fertility doctor?

I tried TCM and naturopath and waited 2 long years before going to a fertility specialist, i tried everything before going, nutrition and worked a lot on emotional, energetic and mental health.

I knew I had PCOS and annovulation. We tried on our own for about 6 months then with our Obgyn for 4 medicated cycles before going to the fertility specialist.

I started talking to a fertility specialist about 10 months in.

I knew I had PCOS and wasnt ovulating on my own, so we went to the fertility specialist after 1 year of trying

@Meghan what medication did you take? I’m currently on my third medicated cycle of Letrozole.

@Taylor did you take medication prior to going?

@Patrice did you take any medication prior to going? I also don’t always ovulate on my own and I’m on my third medicated cycle of Letrozole.

Prior to the fertility specialist, my primary doc just prescribed birth control. Which I wasnt on for long because my body didnt react to well it.

@Patrice I’m just curious because I’ve been ttc for about 14 months now and so far I’ve just seen my gynecologist and she has prescribed me Metformin and Letrozole. I’m about to turn 30 and she recommends since it’s been over a year now and I’m not having any success and just finished my third round of Letrozole to start seeing the fertility specialist to see what they can do for me. I’m nervous about this and having a hard time processing the news. What was your first visit to the fertility specialist like?

I was prescribed letrozole when I had 2 medicated IUIs while seeking fertility treatment. But those IUIs failed. So we have moved on to IVF. Currently waiting for my frozen transfer in January

I did 4 clomid with timed intercourse with the obgyn. I did Letrozole with Ovidrel for my first IUI. Then Gonal F with Ovidrel for my last two.

@Patrice thanks for sharing. Best wishes and baby dust to you!!!

@Meghan thanks for sharing. So you became pregnant after IUI with Gonal F with Ovidrel?

1.5 years trying after taking out mirena and realizing I probably had PCOS. Finally conceived with letrozole and IUI and then actually conceived second baby naturally on accident because ovulation was better for me after having a baby!

Thank you. Best wishes to you as well.

No. I ended up doing IVF.

@Patrice you’re welcome! Thank you!

My PCP didn't want to prescribe letrozole. So I didn't try meds before seeing the fertility clinic. After I talked to them we moved directly to letrozole + IUI

@Taylor Have you had any success with Letrozole + IUI?

No, I had 5 unsuccessful IUIs.

@Taylor I’m sorry to hear this. Are you going to continue doing the IUI route?

No, I had my last IUI in April. I have endometriosis, so I decided to explore treatment options for that before doing anything else. I had laproscopic surgery to remove my endo this past September.

@Taylor I’m sorry you’ve had to go through all of that. I wish you the best of luck in your future ttc journey and baby dust to you!!
