Maternity Grant
Has anyone applied for the maternity grant?
I currently work full time and will be going on maternity leave in May. I don’t claim any benefits currently but have been told that if wanted that extra help with money there’s a couple of things I can apply for.
I’m absolutely clueless in this sort of stuff so can anyone help on the sort of things I can possibly claim.
With the maternity grant it says you have to claiming some sort of benefits to be able to get this grant.

You’ll get child Benefit when baby is here as long as you qualify dependant on salary 😊
Are you going on SMP or do you get additional maternity pay from your company? If just SMP you could then apply for some benefits and the maternity grant. Depending on how generous your company benefits are you could also apply for the maternity grant. I believe you have 6 months after baby is born to claim so you could wait a bit until your earnings go down enough to claim. Yeah unfortunately if you’re working full time and not claiming any benefits, you aren’t entitled to the maternity grant 🙄 I’m not sure if us full time workers are entitled to anything tbh x
