Did you guys see the BV study that came out?

There was a study done on bacterial vaginosis that is now showing that BV is an STI so the best way to treat it is to also have your partner treated with antibiotics including topical! I hope this new research helps vulva owners!! https://www.healthline.com/health-news/bacterial-vaginosis-sexually-transmitted-infection-study

I accidentally voted! I haven’t seen the research 🙈

I was told this when I had bv years ago. It's definitely not common knowledge. Didn't even know i was supposed to bleach my underwear after too to kill the bacteria. But yea it's a bacteria that stays on the guys and keeps reinfecting you unless they get treated

I figured because you know I haven't had it and I have the same guy since forever and I know friends who really have a hard time with it and they take care of themselves so I didn't think it's just like a hygiene situation it has to be these men ugh 😩 one more issue from them as it there weren't enough lol

I absolutely knew this was the case, I was with a previous partner for around 3-4 years. It got to a time where I had recurrent BV - surprise surprise he was sleeping with someone else. It makes complete sense! X

I believe it, I been felt that way.

Ya I heard that years ago because I kept having bv

I got it once and was told it was caused by my birth control but they did prescribe antibiotics. That partner coincidentally had cheated but who knows

Since I’ve started taking probiotics & drinking kefir, it hasn’t come back touchwood!

So if you get it while monogamous, does that mean your partner cheated?

I only had it once and the doctor I saw said it can happen from a ph imbalance. My husband never had it and they never mentioned anything about him needing to be treated either.

@Christina🤱🏼🍂☕️♈️ it’s an interesting one because they actually didn’t know why it happens and they said it was an imbalance to me too, however as time went by and I found out my partner had cheated - imbalance of PH by sharing bacteria in my eyes - it’s interesting now that this study has come out x

@Jenna that or they just dirty

Kinda happy I know this . . . Now . They definitely tell you it’s not a Sti (so ur partner doesn’t need treatment they say it only can affect women) but it’s almost like a yeast infection?? Right idk that’s how I saw it . But isn’t yeast infection not considered sti? I don’t know😭 or is it? Idk uti yeast infection the same or no???

@Jenna possibly but not always . It could even be if you got fingered with dirty fingers, or bacteria build up in your panties, basically anything that has to do with bacteria .

@H when I had it, the my gave antibiotics for my partner too without even testing him

@Aimee I’m sorry that happened. My husband didn’t cheat. He was home with me the entire time during the pandemic when I had BV 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Jenna I got it while being a monogamous marriage. The doctor said anything can change the ph and cause it. Underwear material can cause it due to the build of bacteria I was told by the doctor I saw.

I used to get bv every month after my periods. The dr recommended I stop using tampons, I did and have never gotten it since. It’s been 4+ years

@Rio do you use pads instead, or what do you use? I’m wondering if that might be part of my problem, but pads make me feel gross and period underwear gives me saggy butt 😭

It totally makes sense!! Why wouldn't you get your partner treated as well you'll just keep having the same problem until both ends are cleared up

@Jenna yes!!

@Jenna yes, unfortunately I use pads. I know it feels icky but not as icky as getting bv every month. After my child was born I had some left over adult diapers and I started using them as well. I like them because you don’t have to worry about leaking on your chonies. They do give a bit of a sag but in jeans you can’t tell. Or I’ll wear a longer shirt just to be sure nobody catches my sag. I just bought some period underwear but haven’t tried them so your opinion of them has me worried I won’t like them either.

I had BV the entirety of my pregnancy, they'd treat it and then legit when I finished the cream it would come back within a couple days but I didn't have sex once while pregnant!

@BoyMom this was a few years ago it hasn’t occurred maybe that’s why idk 🤷‍♀️

@H maybe. Mine was 2022
