best bet is to do what i did and get a cheap car from facebook marketplace. if your that desperate for a car you’ll take it. if you want an expensive financed car then unfortunately i don’t think you’ll be very lucky as they go off earnings most the time

i have a 06 polo, doesn’t look great but it runs and drives so it does what i need it to do x

@Sophie okay thank you, did you buy it?x

Just buy one outright 2 k from auto trader . Don’t have to do finance

i did, it was literally £500 due to not only having 3 months left but never been any problems so i’ve taken the risk, i did get help from my boyfriend to buy it as it would’ve taken about 5-6 months to save £500 by myself and i was used to having a car had a car since 17 now im 20, my previous one had broke and i was beside myself x

mot only having 3 months i meant

if your on benefits but have a decent credit score maybe you could get a small loan of £1000 or something, then pay back the loan say £100 over 10 months or something, worth a look x

@Sophie aw Okaay that’s cool then, thank you, will deffo consider FB market just seen good deals on there xx

Buy what you can afford or get a small loan to help, I don’t think you would get a new car on finance, you would need a deposit, then they look at your earnings.

@Lisa Okaay thank you

I personally don't think you can get anything decent and reliable for under 5k. My car is on PCP, it's only 2 years old and a Dacia, and I pay only £150 a month for it

@Rebecca all my cars i’ve had have been under 2k and all were fine. got me from a to b just didn’t look the best

@Rebecca the only one that wasn’t fine was the one i said broke, i’ve had 5 cars and 4 were great! x

Both of my cars I’ve got from Facebook marketplace cause I’m on a low income and didn’t want the debt of paying monthly on top of insurance and tax payments! First was £800, second was £1,400, both have ran great! You can check the mot history online, its mileage and ask to do a test run when you go view it in person, if anyone you know, knows cars always great to get a second opinion when your viewing it too! Best of luck! X

@Sophie same here! My last ‘old banger’ I had for 6 years and it was so reliable.
