Fit to fly letter

Me and my partner have booked a holiday in May when I will be 30 weeks, I’ve spoken with my midwife who has advised I’m a low risk pregnancy and will be fine and just need a fit to fly note however has said neither them nor my GP will be able to issue one and I need to go online? Has this been the case with anyone else and if so where would you recommend?

I got one from zoom doc. I think I paid about £35

My obstetrician has always given me one and I flew every 2 months in both pregnancies. Depends on the airline and where you are going if you are asked. I was asked by BA on a returning flight to the uk which makes no sense whatsoever but I was also asked for a flight to the US when 30 weeks.

I flew BA at 29 weeks and got fit note from GP, filled the consultation online asking for one and with the details of the journey and the GP called back, saying this is private service and if I'm happy to pay £30, they can issue it. Had it within a day but no one checked at the BA both ways 🙄

Not sure how long you’re going for but I flew at 30 weeks and had to have a certificate issued within 4 days of the flight. So if you’re going on holiday consider you may need to also get one when you’re there for the flight back. Luckily it was cold when I flew home and I just wore my coat and a big scarf and nobody asked me for the certificate but I got it to be safe. (This was flying back to the UK so I just got it from a random gynaecologist in Romanian where we were.) Also consider whether your travel insurance will still be valid at that point as some don’t cover pregnancy beyond a certain point.

I had to fly 1week ago at 35 weeks and i got my fit to fly letter from my midwife with no issues! (free of charges!) at the end, at the airport, they didn’t even ask for it..😅

I flew up until 36 weeks and had either a fit to fly from my GP or asked the midwife during my checkups to fill out the form from the airline. The GP did charge me £30 for it though.
