*sigh*

Money wasn't an issue until we had children. We planned the first child, one horny night led to baby #2. We both worked, paid bills, repeat. There was no extra for vacation or events but we had necessities. After the first, I've completed depleted my savings, ira, and even called my bank to pick up my car that we couldn't afford while I stayed home with our child. After our second came finances got more stressful so we relied heavily on credit cards more than 2k in debt. I didn't have time to make payments, or call, and anytime I'd ask my husband regarding finances, he'd get snappy. Mostly because all he does is work, and it's never enough. He feels his worth is shot because he can't financially support our family. So because he got snappy with me, I told him I'm not doing it anymore. He needs to be the one to handle that. We handle finances very differently. I pay bills, prioritize and save partial until next check and if there's enough for extra great. He'll pay for other things FIRST and then be like oh shit, I dont have enough for bill x. Well we are behind on our mortgage, gas and lights. I'm mad at myself for trusting him to take care of it. I'm mad at him for not handling it. So now I'm scrambling trying to figure how I can make money to get us out this situation. I'm looking into my investment accounts and I struggle with that because that's the money I'm supposed to fall on when I'm old and physically can't work. Please be kind, I'm already under the ground.

have you already gotten ur tax return?? or at least filed so u know the return is coming soon? that should hopefully help a little bit. i really wish money grew on trees 🌳 having kids on a tight budget sucks but i totally understand. the other option is to cut costs if you’ve already looked into ur investments and stuff (which ik ur supposed to rely on that when ur older but u might have to dig into it for ur children’s sake). im sending u all my love and positive energy while u try to figure out ur finances 🤍 just know it wont be like this forever

@Annie yes filed but haven't received it yet. I've cut out as much as I could which was why I gave up my car. That alone was more than $800. I will be redeeming rewards from credit cards and withdrawing my investments it just makes me sad because Ive already given up so much. 13k for down payment on the house and 6k from ira. Thank you for your kind words. I have to keep reminding myself it won't always be like this.

I'm not sure where your located but where I'm at you can shop for your electric supplier that may help bring down the cost. Ours also allows us a penalty free extension on payment. Just a suggestion to buy some time there if that helps.

Definitely worth following Dave Ramsey and his baby steps. Read some of his articles on the website and listen to his podcasts.

I agree with @Carly. We don't follow all of Dave Ramsey's advice, but we loosely follow the baby steps.

@Dana Lew we follow it almost exact. It’s made a big difference in how we live. Definitely have to both want it and want the same goals. At minimum just do your portion of it.
