I'm on nuvaring. Once you take it out your cycle returns to normal straight away as its localised hormones and not like taking a pill. That worked best for me. I fell pregnant on the pill too and my friend took 15 months for her fertility to return to normal after the implant xx
I've had the implant since October and I haven't noticed any side effects, only had one light period about a month after having it in, I was exclusively breastfeeding until January though so that was probably also affecting my cycle
@Phoebe-grace is this new? Never heard of it? Is it like the iud/coil? Xx
@Rebecca ah okay, have you ever tried to conceive after using it or? Does it affect your fertility do you know?
I haven't had one before so couldn't say but one of the main reasons I got it was because I read that your fertility goes back to normal straight away 🧐
I had 3 consecutive implants so was on it for 9 years. I would say the first two were absolutely fine and I loved it. The third was when I started noticing my really low moods and lots of other side effects. Maybe it had been in my system too long but definitely at first it was great and I loved it.
I was on nexplanon for 12 years and loved it. No periods with it so had to do fairly regular pregnancy tests to keep myself sane. My SIL was on it for about 8 years also and swore by it she had regular light periods but neither of us had bad side effects like we did with the pill (which I never trusted anyway). There is less hormones in the implant than the pill as it’s continuous small dose. although I’ve been told some people don’t react well with weight gain and spots but I’ve never met anyone with those side effects.
I cant say anything about the implant because I haven’t had it because of medication I am on. I know you have voiced that you don’t want the coil which if fine but I just wanted say if you do decided to jump and get the coil it took me just under 5months to conceive. I hope you find the advice your looking for x
Both of us came off to have babies
I have been on it before and really liked it until I started getting long periods. But that's just me. Lots of people have positive experiences with it. I'd get one again in the future.
I switched from the depot ( which I loved) onto the implant because I knew I was looking to start trying for a baby (they say the average time to conceive is up to three years for the depot and one year for the implant). I personally didn’t enjoy the implant I found it really impacted my mood and made me feel not myself however, it was effective contraception for the year or so I was on it and I had no problems getting it removed albeit I had to wait about 2 months for the doctor to have an appointment. We conceived within 1 month of it being removed. Once I’ve had baby I’ll be looking at the pill I really would not want to go back to the implant just because of how bad it made me feel
I’m on my 4th implant (came off my 3rd one early ttc). Would say it was about a month wait to get it out early via my gp, but I got my cycle back within 1-2 months, and conceived within 7 months. You can always make an appointment with a sexual health clinic to remove and can usually get you in within a week or two depending on your area, if not sooner. I’ve never had any side effects, always had fairly light or no periods. Will say that having one in again 4-5 months pp, I did experience almost 6 months of intermittent bleeding, so it took a long time for me to settle down on it, much longer than when I first had it in. But now it’s great.
3 consecutive implants (about 9 years) which I absolutely loved. No periods/ bleeding atall. Only stopped as wanted my body to get chance to return to normal before conceiving. My periods returned about 2 months after getting it removed. Conceived after 1 month of trying so no issues there 👍🏻
A slightly different experience from all the other responses I’ve read about the implant. I was on Nexplanon for just over a year. At the beginning it was alright and I could cope with it. I got very bad nausea the day before I was due on and each period would last for around 2 1/2 - 3 weeks. By the end of the year the bleeding calmed but I was full on mood swings and soooo angry all the time and very bad hormonal acne. Been off it a just over 2 weeks now and I feel great again 😂 It’s hard to tell how it will effect you as with any contraception. You’re not losing anything by trying it, just make sure you feel well and happy on it ☺️

No it's not new, look on Google, it's a silicone ring you put inside you it stays there for 21 days, take it out for a week for a period then put a new one in or replace it and have no bleeding. Can have intercourse with it in or out, can take it out for 3 hours and wash it and put it back in, it's 99% effective too. It's the only thing that's worked for me so far and I'm 5m pp with my 4th :) xx
I had the implant for 9 years, had no periods, no side effects that I could tell. Not sure about fertility coming back as I had a break from hormonal contraception for two years before accidentally getting pregnant with my little girl. Now pregnant with baby 2 so definitely doesn’t affect fertility long term.
I was on the depo for over 10 years, came off in August and by the next July I was pregnant x
The only thing with the implant is it lasts 3 years and sometimes you have to fight to get it removed early (speaking from experience)
