Centrelink PPL

Just a curious question has anyone recently received or due to receive paid parental leave from Centrelink, I’m about to finish my work leave and start that and I had a letter on my Centrelink saying $778.80 p/f after tax just seems low for the fortnight when my rent alone is $600. Is everyone getting roughly the same or is this a mistake on the letter?

This seems accurate, it works out a bit over $1500 per fortnight. It’s minimum wage

I am currently getting 1560 per fortnight. Plus an extra 60 via family tax benefit.

Sorry that’s $778 a fortnight after tax

Yep sounds about right. It’s the minimum wage. Depending on your family circumstances you may be able to apply for FTB. Give them a call and see what other options are available to you

That doesn’t sound right to me I’m not entirely sure how it works though

Are you sure it’s fn? @Kala

You may fall in the off week for payments (this happened to me). Check your upcoming scheduled payments. It's $1557.60 P/F. My letter was also incorrect, give them a call if you're concerned 😊

I don’t receive this, but the minimum wage is currently $915.90 per week before tax.

Check that you have claimed all of the days (full pay) over a 6 month ish period, instead of half pay over 12 month ish . 100 days

are you sure that’s PPL? or maybe you’ve only selected a few days to claim. i’m only claiming 5 days a fortnight atm and I get about the amount you listed after tax. maybe you’ve set your tax rate too high?

i’ve just divided that pre tax amount by $183.16 (which is the daily pre tax amount) and it gives you 5 so you must only be claiming 5 days a fortnight or you’ve opted for half pay?

Thank you everyone! I contacted Centrelink and cleared it up, it’s because my leave ends on a Tuesday with work so I don’t have the full amount of days for the fortnight
