Anyone baby at nursery? Or starting soon?

Baby going to nursery the end of April, he will be 10 and a half months! I’m so upset but I need to go to work, as I won’t get funding till the end of the year if I have anymore time off. Anyways I’m just so upset I’m basically on here for encouragement haha. I literally haven’t left him with anyone apart from my husband for like two hours 😭 then leaving him with a stranger is just not normal to me

Mines starting full time at the end of April! He should have settling in days to get you both used to it a little before properly starting?

@Charlotte is your little one in five days a week? Yes, they’re going to book in settle sessions in March time I think I’m just so upset because I don’t want him to go in. I feel like he’s so small still! I’m not very good with leaving him with people anyway so it’s gonna be weird leaving him for free full days with complete strangers.

Mine will be in 4 days a week starting early may. I also have a 3 year old who started nursery at a similar age and if it helps you feel better he is absolutely thriving. He has little friends who he has been with since he started who will go to the same school as him, they do Spanish classes and sports and crafts. His language is great and he can already write his own name. I know it will be hard at first but it is great for their development and you’ll get into the swing of things. You’ll cherish the time you have together even more and you’ll probably find that your brain is grateful to be challenged a bit more and have some adult conversation 😘

Mine started for 2 days a week when she was 6.5 months old! She’s now 8 months and has been absolutely loving it!! We went for 5 hour long settling in sessions leading up to it! I feel like she’s learnt so much already being around the other babies! Our nursery upload pictures of her throughout the day etc too so I can see what she’s up to which makes me feel a lot better!!

Sorry can’t reply directly to your question annoyingly but yes she’ll be in a full 5 days a week from the end of April. I do feel sad but also know it will be really good for her. I have considered maybe going back to work 4 days instead but I think we’d lose too much to justify it 😅 xx

Hi everyone, I am in the same boat probably I will probably come back in a couple of weeks. I work in a nursery and my girl is 8 months unfortunately I will bring with me and it's going to be a long day for both. I'm going to try to do 36 hours instead of 40 so I can have a day off with her. It's so hard just to think about it, but I know it is good for her as well. I work in the baby room, and I saw so many babies happy at nursery. At least I will be close to her, probably not in the same room. Don't worry, it is going to be harder for us than for them.

My little boy is starting 2days in April, 3 in June and then 4 from August! I'm back to work end of March and just dreading it! I don't like the idea of leaving him, but i try to tell myself that he will get the socialisation and stimulation in ways I can't offer, with other children of a similar age and with people who are qualified It's going to be hard though so completely understand how you're feeling 🥺

@Anna thank you this is lovely! I just think he is still so little! Yeah people say this, but I am fine being just with him🤣

@Grace that’s lovely glad she is loving it! It’s lovely she is learning stuff. I just feel a little selfish I want him to do eveything with me haha

@Charlotte what do you mean you can’t reply directly to my question.? Yeah sometimes it difficult when it’s the only option and you need to go back to work

@Isa that’s lovely you get to be in the same nursery! That would make me feel so much better

@Amy this is literally me haha! I could just cry thinking about it

Because it’s an incognito post I can’t click to reply directly / tag you when I reply so I wasn’t sure it would be obvious if and what I was replying to. But yeah for us to continue the life we want as a family it makes sense for me to go back full time, although I am now planning to speak to work and nursery about a 4 day week until September!

@Charlotte okay thank you! I can always message you directly if easier. Yeah, that would be nice just to ease both of you and I guess until September.🥰

Hi OP, what do you mean that you won't get funding until end of the year if you don't start work in April? I am relying on the 15 hr from the gov. But I am starting work in June. So I am a bit concerned now 😩

@Alina so I have read that if I don’t go back to work before the 30th of April I won’t receive my funding until the September term. But if I go back before the 30th April I will get it for the Easter term ! I was so sad as I wanted to go back in June as well

I am so confused.. I understand that you can apply. I didn't know you actually have to start work.😭

@Alina have you applied? Because I tried and it didn’t seem to go through. Yeah I know I’m so upset

@Alina please don’t take my word on This, but this is just what I have worked out from it all

Thanks OP, I will look for more info

@Alina oh okay when I applied it just showed me the chart I showed you above
