Lonely

Does anyone else feel like mat leave isn't what they expected? I go to classes etc with my baby and talk to others mums but nothings materialised into friendships. Most of the time is just me and my little one as everyone else works 🤷‍♀️ it does get quite lonely

I feel the same. I went to a baby massage class but didn't gel with anyone. It seems you make more friends at nursery/school age when you're waiting to collect them but we'll see!

Yeah I feel ya on that!

Yep I'm in the same situation but it's got to the point now I anit making no effort anymore to get fuck all back so il just do me

This is so me now.

I’m too anxious to go to classes by myself as I’m not originally from my area, I would love a mum friend like this, mat leave can be lonely, sending love 💕

I went for a walk with my boy yesterday and was sat on a bench alone and just thought wow being a new mum is lonely!

I haven’t even ma aged to go for a walk just me and baby and it’s been 2 months :/

I hated mat leave!

@Jess I was in the exact same boat with new area, not knowing anyone and anxious about going to class alone. I pushed myself to go to a class and forced myself to talk to someone new each week and I have no regrets! There’s only 2 ladies I talk to from that class but it was so worth it. Plus my little one loves the class and she gets the socialisation with other littles

Oh bless you. That’s okay. You’ll find your mum tribe. I didn’t make lots of friends but have made friends. I went to a post natal group and there’s a big group chat and we are always talking and it’s so nice. I first went to a baby massage class, didn’t gel with anyone and felt so anxious. Signed up to baby yoga and the same happened again. Started going to post natal group and a library group and that’s where I found the most supportive friendly mums. Keep trying. You will find your mum friends xx

Yeah mat leave is very hard/lonely. Considering we're all in the same boat, no one seems to make the effort to talk to one another at classes etc

It sure gets like that.

@Maddie me too! I often go for walks alone with my boy xxx

@Jade making friends is really hard now a days isn’t it? It seems like the good ones are really hard to find who actually want to make an effort

Yup. 16months day in day in day out just me and the baby and zero adult contact.

I’ve not enjoyed mat leave. Can’t wait to get back to work for the structure and the break and the normality
