Child maintenance

My partner has a 4 year old from a previous relationship he used to pay £38 a week but when his son went to nursery to gave her £50 a week so he could go an extra day. The son is now in school full time but the baby mum won’t put it back down to £38 a week. He’s said to her well now he’s in school I’ll just sent you what I was before and she said no. I don’t know why but it’s really annoyed me, am I being over dramatic? Or is anyone else having this problem with BM?

38 quid isn't a lot to be fair. Neither is 50. It doesn't go very far especially if she's paying rent, food, clubs, clothes etc. Would you be happy with 38 quid? If the shoe was on the other foot and your partner was offering you 38 a week? I wouldn't to be honest. 🤷🏽‍♀️

How often does he have his son? What does the CMS calculator recommend? Run some figures and do some calculations :) No one can say if you’re being dramatic but I imagine there may still be childcare costs for the kid and obviously costs have risen etc so she may need the extra £12 she was getting..

My partner would LOVE to pay £50 a week… yet he is having to pay £420 a month ( for two children, so yes it is expected to be higher than what your partner is paying) which seems crazy to me! I think it’s frustrating for us as there is literally nothing we can do. It’s an issue between him and their previous relationship…

@Juliana he still pays for his school trips and his school uniform and stuff like that. His BM has had an issue with me ever since we got together. She wouldn’t let me meet his son. The first time I met him was when I was 7 months pregnant

@Amy the calculator says £38 a week. He still pay for his school uniform and school trips and things like that and she works during the school hours and his grandparents have him in the holidays. Due to where we live he can only see him on the weekends but he has him every other weekend for 2 nights which is all she would agree too. He’s always sending her money because he guilt trips her by saying she’s got no money left for the food shop but she can go out every weekend🤷🏼‍♀️

If the child maintenance calculator says only £38 then that’s all he has to send :) whether she’s happy with that or not!

@Emily obviously I’m not in that position so I don’t know what it’s like for her but he still pays for all his uniform and shoes. She lives with her parents and doesn’t pay rent or bills all she pays with that money is his food. But she will still ask him for extra money every month even though she goes out drinking every weekend
