Owlet - is it worth it?

Hey! With it being Black Friday, the Owlet Dream Sock is down £100 (£299 to £199). Just wondering if anyone has used it in the past and thinks it's a worthwhile investment?

I haven’t but planning on buying one too so would love to follow this thread 🤍

Yes - wouldn’t have been without it xx

I have no personal experience of it but my SIL got one and was complaining to me that her baby was wriggling out of the sock at night.

If you get it on Amazon, add it to your baby wish list and get an extra 15% off that price too! I got my owlet for like £160ish

I didn't have one and have no regrets

Yes 100%! Definitely do the Amazon wish list thing that’s amazing, I might even get another for our second (still use it on the 3yo when she’s ill)

No - they are so overpriced and can cause more anxiety with false alarms and they don’t last long (as jn babies don’t want it on). Had friends use it and they all said it was a waste. Having baby in a next to me or cot in your room is safest. We didn’t use any monitor as you are right there. Only once she was in her own room (7.5 months) and she wouldn’t have wanted the sock on from then. We also had to go to hospital on day 3 due to a scary seizure like episode (she was thankfully fine after a couple of days monitoring) and we spoke to lots of paediatricians and I was saying how we should get this and they were all like nooo don’t! They see so many parents all worked up just because of these socks/alarms. They said parental instinct is always best. I also had PPA but actually think this would’ve made it worse and found it got a bit better once I stopped tracking sleep/feeds in apps etc. Data/Tech is amazing but there is something to be said about keeping it simple.

I used a Sense-U monitor that I will use with my second. It attaches to the nappy. My first born stopped breathing at 6 weeks old during a day time nap, got it after this episode for reassurance and it was an amazing help
