does getting your kids christmas gifts from secondhand places like once upon a child make you a bad mom?

my family keeps telling me that it doesn’t and my aunt keeps telling me there’s nothing wrong with buying second hand toys since the kids will literally never know the difference, plus i’ll be able to get more for them but i still feel bad :/ of course they’ll have a few new gifts from us and plenty from my family/my mans family, but as tight as money is right now a lot will come from once upon a child.

there is NO problem with this. kids mess up toys so quickly anyways lol, they only look new for like 5 minutes 😂 any toys are fun toys i promise ❤️

In this economy??????? Do what you gotta do

Absolutely not!! & if that makes you a bad mom I must be a terrible mom because I’m taking mine clearance shopping after Christmas.

I could afford new unused toys but much prefer buying bargains from Vinted!! Definitely buy second hand 👍😊

That’s all I ever got as a kid! Nothing wrong with it. We’re doing a combination of previously loved and new gifts this year

Absolutely not! They grow out of toys and clothes so fast- it’s the smart thing to do!

Of course not!!

Take it a step further and give your kids hand-me-downs and toys from buy nothing groups 😜😜😜 seriously, kids don't care

It’s new to them so who cares 🤷🏼‍♀️

You can also feel warm and fuzzy about giving those toys a new life! And being good to the planet 🥰

Buying anything used is just smart. It’s also great for the environment. I don’t know why you’re even asking this question.

Absolutely not! I have purchased a lot of my daughters Christmas presents second hand too xx

there is no problem doing that, do what you have to. as long as toys are clean and working the kids will love them.

No however once they move on from the preschool age it would be difficult to get away with second hand stuff. Although you can only give what you can afford long term it will probably affect them. My dad for example would never allow us to wear second hand clothes or hand me downs as he grew up with nothing.

Who tf pressed yes? Lmao. Y’all can get off your high horse and understand not everyone can buy something new. At least the child is blessed to get something when others can’t! I got cereal one year and I was happy as can be!

My LG has hand me downs that ive gotten from my sister. Her youngest is a small age 5. She's just given me some dressing uo costumes this time around fir my lgs 3rd birthday.i even told her to gift them to her if she wants. Kids don't know it's secondhand and nor do they care. It's normally the adult that cares. My sister got her 5 year old the disney princess castle this year 2nd hand and a frozen castle thing. Perfect condition. Some kids get these toys and never play with them but they cost a bomb to buy. No shame In secondhand. The main point is seeing you kids happy.

There are some gifts that my son wants that aren't sold at the normal shops as he is into some older style games we have gotten some from Amazon but have gone to 2nd hand shops/trade in game shops to get some.

40% of my sons toys are thrifted because not only are they great deal$, they’re way cuter toys and usually better quality. We get a lot of shark/fish toys.

@Genevieve okay this made me sob. thank you so much ❤️
