Ah this has definitely reassured me. I read that the pain was worse than child birth and although I’ve not experienced that (yet!) it terrified me. This makes me feel a bit better. Thank you. X
Oh god no. If you’re being sedated you won’t know anything about it. I certainly didn’t. I didn’t find the pain after unbearable either, and I actually ended up with OHSS x
I just had mine today. I just remember having a canula put it and them asking loads of questions and went to sleep before I knew it, I just had mild pain, they say it's normal to have abit of blood and brownish discharge, I have very painful periods and it's nothing compared to that. I just felt super emotional and wanted to cry over the tiniest things. It's so hard going through this constantly highs and lows, so that's normal. Hope all goes well with you ♥️
It’s totally fine. I was at a lovely private clinic in London. It was so easy, I remember taking a bag of snacks and magazines and my phone charger - I was literally in the clinic start to finish for 1hr30 didn’t even have time to set up camp 😂
I’ve only done egg freezing but up to this point it’s the same process. I’m the world’s biggest wimp and honestly it was fine. The worst part is having the Canula put in my hand. Just stay calm when you go in the operating theatre, you’ll be put to sleep in no time. When you wake up, my only pain was just a bit sore from the suppository they put in (not sure if this is standard procedure but if you can get one I’d recommend as I didn’t have any real pain for hours after!) My first collection I made the mistake of thinking I’m all good and don’t need pain relief, which was a mistake because the suppository wore off after about 8 hours and then I had really bad cramps for the rest of the night. But second time around I knew that was the case so throughout the day I kept ontop of regular pain relief (co-codamol worked best for me) and didn’t really notice the cramps the second time around, and was at a wedding the next day as a bridesmaid and up dancing/having a good time etc!
Thanks everyone- so comforting knowing you’ve all experienced it & have the same views. I think it is the cannula I’m dreading the most… but it’ll be in and done in no time I’m sure. Scan Wednesday so I’m hoping I’ll be in & out shortly after! X
I was awake when I had mine done! And it was fine! Good luck
You were all right, wasn’t so bad. Transfer next, is that better than retrieval? I don’t think I’m put out..
@micky yes transfer is just like having a smear test, Good luck lovely ❤️❤️
You will be absolutely fine. I was so so terrified. I’m generally terrified of most hospital and doctor appts but I was so terrified of egg collection that I cried at the nurse, and the anaesthetist that were introduced to me 🤦♀️ But I honestly knew nothing about it. I heard the anaesthetist telling me to take some deep breaths. Next thing I know I’m being woken up back on the ward and fed water and biscuits. Had a wee and went home 40 mins later. When I woke I had what I can only describe as period cramps. But they weren’t as bad as the ones I get monthly!
